Street Crime & The Future

Monday, May 21st, 2012

As many of you will know by now, the last few months on Street Crime have been quite turbulent and we do apologise for this. To fill you in on what’s been happening if your not up to speed, we (Bytewire) as a company have been deciding whether we have time to run Street Crime properly or not and whether it fits our portfolio going forward.

Elliot and I have been running Street Crime for over 4 years now and it’s been a fabulous time – it’s our baby. Naturally we don’t want to let it go and would love to continue working on it 24/7 but as i’m sure lots of you are familiar, sometimes you just gotta do what pays the bills. Our company has transitioned heavily away from full time management of Street Crime to managing other projects and clients, this is currently where we see our business growing.

Because of this we felt like we could not dedicate the sorts of development time all of you lovely people deserve. Just over a month ago we made a decision to solicit bids on Street Crime on the popular The auction was un-successful. This decision was not one we took lightly and that is reflected in the final outcome of the sale. Many of you will already know, we did not accept any bids and did not have our reserve price met, this was somewhat deflating, but in truth answered a few lingering questions for us. By attempting a sale we now know that, we would not sell for a cut price just to get rid of what we have with all of our loyal players and we will now be actively starting up development again on the game.

I would be lieing if I told you to all expect massive changes and bug fixes straight away, but I think you can expect some changes and a bit of a shake up pretty quickly. The good news is that we’ll be developing the game and working on pushing it forward, hopefully with the support of all of you we can bring this place back to it’s former glory.

Distribution Competition

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

We have come up with a brand new competition idea which has not been used on Street Crime before, its called the Distribution Competition. This competition will separate those who can manage time and energy well against those who can’t.

The competition will begin at 17:00 (game time) on 21st July 2011 and will run for exactly 2 days ending at 17:00 (game time) on 23rd July 2011.

How it works

  • Every 10 minutes you will be given 5 boxes in your inventory.
  • Boxes are given in batches of 5 and you can only have 5 at a time e.g. if you have 1 remaining box your batch will be replenished to 5 after 10 minutes, you will never have more than 5 boxes at a time.
  • You must distribute the boxes as quickly as possible at the distribution center.
  • For every normal box that you distribute you will be given one point.
  • Special boxes can be found by attempting Jobs which count as 25 normal boxes.

The prizes

There are two types of prizes Competition Prizes and Milestone Prizes. Competition prizes will go to the top 3 players with the most points at the end of the competition. Milestone prizes are available for everyone and can be earnt at differing levels of points with the prize getting better with each milestone.

We hope you enjoy the competition and good luck!

Attack Integration – How it will happen

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

As you are all probably aware Attack is due to go live at 9pm today. In order for us to achieve this we will need to take the game down to implement the necessary changes to the game.

The down time will be staggered over two periods. The first of which will start at approximately 12 noon and last for up to 3 hours (maximum). The second period will be at approximately 8:30pm for 30 minutes. We will keep you informed prior to the downtime with a notice in the game so that you can prepare for the downtime.

We cannot guarantee that there will not be more than 2 periods of downtime but will try and keep downtime to a minimum and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Gangsters of Street Crime we have some exciting news!

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

Good morning gangsters of Street Crime, we’ve been a little quiet lately, but let your mind rest at ease its all with good reason! We’ve been very busy lately working on several massive additions to Street Crime and talking about how we can take the game forward and make it more exciting for you, our loyal Gangsters. We’ve now come up with a set of great new additions that you are going to see hit the streets of crime in the near future.

Our aim all along and one that we’ve just realised we need to push forward to achieve, is that we not only want to be a recognised Gangster game on the web! We want to be the bloody BEST gangster game on the web! So here we are pledging to you that over the next few months your in for some real and big treats as we push Street Crime forward!

Of course the question that you all want to know the answer to: when will Kill come out? Well we can tell you, very shortly. We don’t want to give an exact date away until we are 100% ready to go but what we can tell you is its all going really well and we think you’ll have some real fun when it comes out 😉

We’ve overhauled our shop facility so that it now includes a much more friendly payment system, merchandise, a price per credit identifier (so that you can weigh up the discount of buying more at once) and recurring memberships yay!

We’ve also decided to overhaul our membership features on Street Crime, although it will remain free to play, of course 🙂 we are making the games premium features more prominent and advantageous, whilst also adding the ability to buy different terms ie a 1 month code, 1 month recurring code, 3 month membership, or a 1 year membership. All offering a tidy discount for the longer your willing to become a member for! You will also notice when this goes live that we are changing the names of our codes from the current “Premium” & “Premium+” to “Premium” & “Elite”. Each offering positive and clear benefits from a free account and from one another! Again we don’t want to give too much away, but rest assured anyone with a premium or premium+ code will end up with the “Premium” status when the change is made.

Also we’ve been working hard on what we are now dubbing as Version 4.0 of Street Crime, which includes mobile support and a fancy new standard interface with the option to tone it down to a fully backwards compatible interface, which will help all you iPhone, iPad and all other mobile device players. The new interface includes a much more friendly general layout, intuitive menus and improved tutorial and sign up process for new players, to try and improve the initial experience of a new player in the hope that we might retain them.

We’ve also been making various tweaks behind the scenes as we gear the game up for hugely anticipated kill feature.

After our little stint of darkness and confusion we welcome you to Street Crime and the revolution, the next few months will be big ones for us and all of our players, its our promise!

Stay tuned

Competition – Government plans crack down on crime

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

Over the past few days on Street Crime there have been some strange goings on. Rumours of a government clamp down on criminal activity, government meetings being held and plans being made on how to combat the rising amount of crime on Street Crime.

Clamp down begins on Friday 15th October 2010 @ 16:00

Government Plans

The government held a meeting late into yesterday evening and decided upon a strict regime to combat the recent spat of crime.

Each city will now have 5 police buildings to patrol the city this includes 4 police towers and a headquarters. Each police tower will concentrate on one aspect of crime whether it be money laundering, illegal gambling or bullet production.

In order to gain back control of each of these aspects of each city you must work together to destroy each of these buildings which in turn will allow the continuation of illegal activity on the streets.

The Prizes

There are a number of prizes on offer throughout this competition including in game items such as credits, memberships and special items but also Street Crimes first ever merchandise! That’s right we have 8 t-shirts to be given away for those who successfully destroy a police headquarters.

Individual Prizes: 8 of the 16 gangsters involved in blowing up headquarters will receive a t-shirt bundle with the remaining 8 receiving the car bomb bundle. Both bundles include the Car Bomb competition medal.

Crew Prizes: The top 3 crews will each receive 3, 2 and 1 days worth of access to the boss of bosses. Each of these crews will also gain a Car Bomb competition medal.

Note: Winners of t-shirts will have a first come first serve choice on sizes. There is a maximum of 1 t-shirt per person.

Car Bomb goes live!

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

Thats right! Car bomb is now live on Street Crime. All those times you wished you could get your own back on those guys who steal your cars and mug you? Well now you can! Car Bomb allows a team of 2 gangsters to plan an attack on another gangsters turf to disrupt their income and destroy their buildings.

To start a car bomb you can go to Attack in the Crime & Conflict menu. A car bomb requires you to have the location of the Turf of the gangster you want to attack before you can begin. You will also need to visit the Chop Shop which you can find at the Stores page to get a car fitted out with some explosives.

If you want some advanced warning to an incoming attack you can purchase the Turf Snooper from the Credit Store which will give you advanced warning to incoming attacks for 7 days!

This is the first part of a 4 part attack system, we will be monitoring this section of attack before we continue to roll out further additions to the attack system which include Looting, Car Heists and Attacking another gangster! Car Bomb is currently in a BETA mode, if you find any problems or issues please make sure you submit a Helpdesk ticket.

We hope you have fun car bombing others!
