Street Crime & The Future

Posted on: May 21st, 2012 by Dave

As many of you will know by now, the last few months on Street Crime have been quite turbulent and we do apologise for this. To fill you in on what’s been happening if your not up to speed, we (Bytewire) as a company have been deciding whether we have time to run Street Crime properly or not and whether it fits our portfolio going forward.

Elliot and I have been running Street Crime for over 4 years now and it’s been a fabulous time – it’s our baby. Naturally we don’t want to let it go and would love to continue working on it 24/7 but as i’m sure lots of you are familiar, sometimes you just gotta do what pays the bills. Our company has transitioned heavily away from full time management of Street Crime to managing other projects and clients, this is currently where we see our business growing.

Because of this we felt like we could not dedicate the sorts of development time all of you lovely people deserve. Just over a month ago we made a decision to solicit bids on Street Crime on the popular flippa.com. The auction was un-successful. This decision was not one we took lightly and that is reflected in the final outcome of the sale. Many of you will already know, we did not accept any bids and did not have our reserve price met, this was somewhat deflating, but in truth answered a few lingering questions for us. By attempting a sale we now know that, we would not sell for a cut price just to get rid of what we have with all of our loyal players and we will now be actively starting up development again on the game.

I would be lieing if I told you to all expect massive changes and bug fixes straight away, but I think you can expect some changes and a bit of a shake up pretty quickly. The good news is that we’ll be developing the game and working on pushing it forward, hopefully with the support of all of you we can bring this place back to it’s former glory.

Our last competition, “The Distribution Game” went down pretty well and we’re happy that you all thought so too. For this week’s competition we took some inspiration from our topic in the forum called “Competition ideas”, if we choose your idea, we will reward you with 25 credits. This week’s competition idea was inspired by Marlo Stanfield #35724 who posted his idea in the forum topic, thank’s very much for your excellent contribution. So without further ado, we’d like to introduce to you this week’s competition.

Distribution Competition

Posted on: July 20th, 2011 by dave

We have come up with a brand new competition idea which has not been used on Street Crime before, its called the Distribution Competition. This competition will separate those who can manage time and energy well against those who can’t.

The competition will begin at 17:00 (game time) on 21st July 2011 and will run for exactly 2 days ending at 17:00 (game time) on 23rd July 2011.

How it works

  • Every 10 minutes you will be given 5 boxes in your inventory.
  • Boxes are given in batches of 5 and you can only have 5 at a time e.g. if you have 1 remaining box your batch will be replenished to 5 after 10 minutes, you will never have more than 5 boxes at a time.
  • You must distribute the boxes as quickly as possible at the distribution center.
  • For every normal box that you distribute you will be given one point.
  • Special boxes can be found by attempting Jobs which count as 25 normal boxes.

The prizes

There are two types of prizes Competition Prizes and Milestone Prizes. Competition prizes will go to the top 3 players with the most points at the end of the competition. Milestone prizes are available for everyone and can be earnt at differing levels of points with the prize getting better with each milestone.

We hope you enjoy the competition and good luck!

How to play Zombie Slayer

Posted on: July 1st, 2011 by dave

We thought we would accompany the recent outbreak with a small guide of how to play it. There are 10,000 zombies heading right for the streets of Street Crime, you and your friends and foe need to fight your way out.

Fighting

For each Zombie you come across you must choose to fight it or run, if you run it might still bite you and you could end up in hospital, if it bites you, you will also be infected. If you are infected then if someone sends you a message or attempts to mug you whilst infected will also end up infected and in hospital. If you choose to fight the Zombie, you must tool up with your weapons and bullets, the higher the level of zombie the tougher it will make it to kill.

If you kill the zombie successfully you will earn yourself and your crew the equivalent points to the level of the Zombie. So a level 15 Zombie would earn you and your crew 15 points.

The top 5 players and the top 3 crews will each earn the following prizes.

Player prizes

All players will receive zombie competition July 2011 top 5 badge

  1. 250 credit, 31 day membership, 500 HP, 1000 Prestige.
  2. 150 credits and a 31 day membership, 300 HP, 600 Prestige
  3. 75 credits and a membership 200 HP, 400 Prestige
  4. 31 day membership 100 HP, 200 Prestige
  5. 25 credits 50 HP, 100 Prestige

Crew Prizes
Access to the boss of bosses with the following

  1. 5 prizes from boss of bosses for 7 days
  2. 3 prizes from boss of bosses for 5 days
  3. 1 prizes from boss of bosses for 5 days

Good luck, happy gaming and happy slaying.

New attack updates

Posted on: May 27th, 2011 by dave

This morning we added some further tweaks to the game:

  • Loot will now give out honour and prestige for successful attempts.
  • A bug was fixed with attacks saying all buildings are burnt out when they were not
  • You will receive more prestige the higher the rank of the player that you attack is
  • You will receive more prestige for attacking and causing damage to a persons turf who has more prestige than the average of your team, or singularly if he/she has more prestige than you.
  • All messages and log reports now reflect a colour coded, and more graphic representation of what you earnt in the attacks.

Enjoy

Heavies

Posted on: May 25th, 2011 by dave

We’ve made a few changes to Heavies:

  • Heightened weight in attack defense.
  • They now have scaling requirements for each rank / level.
  • The higher rank you are the less energy a heavy will take to train also the more you will be able to train simultaneously.
  • Your gyms stats will determine an extra bonus on training time, of per 500 combined stats -1 second from the build time for each type of heavy. Reaching a minimum amount at a certain level which the time to build will not get any smaller than.
  • The build cost per heavy will increase per rank, as you are a bigger target and more difficult to protect and your hourly cost will also increase dependant on your rank.

Todays tweaks

Posted on: May 17th, 2011 by dave

Today we have made several changes to areas of conflict on Street Crime.

  • Chase time has been increased to 30 minutes
  • Players can be attempted to be killed even when their turf is in transit
  • Prestige is now given for making successful kills
  • Prestige and honour are now correctly given for both Attack and Carbombs (tried and tested).
  • Attack attempts now show your overall damage points (the red badge in each log to the right)
  • Attacks will now attempt to destroy security in the order they can be built
  • Attacks will now allocate any remainding damage to pad security.
  • Damage incurred to your pad security will be shown at the pad security tab within your pad
  • Pad security & heavies now must be destroyed before any damage can be done to buildings
  • Damage reported to buildings when you destroy via carbomb will now not show 100% it will show the amount of damage handed by the attack, at all times
  • We’ve fixed spy turf reports, they will now always reflect the damage currently at the turf, when successful

Thats about it for todays fixes, we are monitoring closely this week our conflict features in the hope that we can improve them further from the data we collate. But today was a nice start and we hope you’ll agree.

Easter Egg Hunt Competition

Posted on: April 27th, 2011 by dave

Its been a while since our last competition so although we may be a little bit late we have decided to run an Easter Egg Hunt competition. The competition will run from now until 20:00 on Sunday 1st May. During this time you need to find as many eggs as you can.

Eggs are hidden around the game for you to find. As you collect more eggs you can begin to trade them in for a range of different prizes. You can build up your collection of eggs to try and get the best prize or you can trade in a smaller number of eggs for lesser prizes!

The prizes range from Direct Plane Tickets to Planning Orders! If you manage to get one of each egg you can trade them in for a special Easter Egg Collectors Medal for your profile.

Enjoy and get egg hunting!
